this is for @ummm_stacy but anyone can take advantage of my aggregation of shawl patterns for crochet:

SO YOU THINK HE’S CHEATING ON YOU?
NO, IT’S NOT THAT. I THINK HE’S UNSATISFIED IN THE RELATIONSHIP SO HE’S PUTTING HIMSELF IN SITUATIONS WHERE THAT SORT OF THING COULD HAPPEN. JUST KIND OF TESTING THE WATERS, YOU KNOW? I DON’T EVEN KNOW IF IT’S A CONSCIOUS MANEUVER. HE MIGHT HAVE CONVINCED HIMSELF IT’S ALL HARMLESS, FRIENDLY SOCIAL INTERACTION. IT’S NOT CHEATING BECAUSE HE DOESN’T INTEND TO CHEAT, BUT THAT’S STILL WHERE IT’S ALL HEADED, YOU UNDERSTAND?
I GUESS SO, YEAH.
IF I TRY TO CONFRONT HIM ABOUT IT HE’LL USE THAT AS AN EXCUSE TO MAYBE CROSS THE LINE, RIGHT? OR TO END THE RELATIONSHIP. HE’LL SAY I’M BEING JEALOUS, OR CONTROLLING, BUT I’VE TRIED TO BE MORE LOVING AND ATTENTIVE AND IT DOESN’T WORK. HE’S DISENGAGED, EMOTIONALLY, AND IT’S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THINGS GO SOUTH. MY WINGS ARE TIED ON THIS ONE. I DON’T HAVE ANY VIABLE OPTIONS, BUT I DON’T WANT TO LOSE HIM, SO …
SO YOU WANT ME TO EAT THE GIRLS HE WORKS WITH.
YES. IF I DO ANYTHING IT WILL JUST TURN INTO ANOTHER FIGHT, WHICH I’M TRYING TO AVOID. IF THEY DON’T SHOW UP ON MONDAY … WELL, SHIT HAPPENS, RIGHT? AND MAYBE IT BUYS ME ENOUGH TIME TO REMIND HIM WE’RE IN LOVE.
YOU’RE GOING TO OWE ME BIG TIME. YOU KNOW THAT.
I KNOW, ABSOLUTELY. THANK YOU, CHRISTINE. I MEAN IT. YOU’RE A GOOD FRIEND.
It’s well-established that women face social pressures that push them away from pursuing science as a life passion. It’s also well-established that women who do stay in science face discrimination all the way up the ladder. Women are 50 percent of the population but hold less than a quarter of STEM jobs.
Young ladies, HuffPo has your back. Check it out:
Dear Geek Girls,
We were there once — making a decision about which career path to choose can be a source of great anxiety, especially in tough economic times like these. But having someone on your side to coach you through, and give you practical advice without judgement can make all the difference in the world.
HuffPo Science is offering young ladies 14-21 the chance to be mentored by a female scientist, to show you the ropes and keep you motivated to achieve your goals. Applications are due Jan 31st, so apply here today!
Big round of applause to them for this effort.
I am going to apply for this. Lady Scientist followers, you should do this too!
“My local library branch started doing this “Blind Date with a Book” thing, thought you guys might like it. The shelf was full when we got there, but was like this as we were leaving. The books are wrapped in paper and have different designs on them, and then a few words vaguely describing the subject matter of the book. Things like “Drama”, “Plot Twists”, “espionage”, etc. The only thing exposed on the book is the barcode that you use to scan the book out. I thought it was a pretty cool idea.”
This is so cool.
